What is hosting?

Hosting is providing storage for web site in a WEB Server at a specific Internet address.

For any page(s) to be in the Internet, they must reside in a WEB Server somewhere.  A web server is a computer linked to the Internet.  Your page is stored in the web server, and is visible when anyone accesses your URL (Uniform Resource Locator).  The URL is your address in the WEB, much like your home or business address allow people and mail to know where you are.

The service provider invests in the computers, high speed lines, modems, overhead, etc..  He then charges a hosting fee to users of the site, depending on the storage requirements, and the traffic over the high speed lines.

What is the difference between Virtual and Non-Virtual?

Non-virtual hosting service is space on a WEB Server under an existing  Domain name.

Example:
The Domain Name is webs-r-us.com.
You are 'koolguy', a web page resident at webs-r-us.com.
Your Non-Virtual Page would be: webs-r-us/koolguy

Virtual hosting is your own specific domain address in the WEB, instead of under a domain name. You can register any domain name that is not already taken.

Example:
You choose my-business.com as your domain name.
You (or WWWS) search  for the name my-business.com
No one is using it, so you (or WWWS) applies for the name.
Once it been has been verified that the name is clear, it is assigned to you.
You pay a bill for the 1st year of service: (around $15.00  a year $US)
You are now the owner of my-business.com. (at least for the year(s) you paid for)
You can now be found on the WEB at my-business.com.

It is important to have a few alternative names in case the name you want is already taken.

What is a 3rd Level Domain?

A 3rd level domain is an Internet address that is formed by preceding a virtual domain name. It looks like this: NameYoupick.DallasMetro.com.
A 3rd level domain has 2 major advantages: One, it does not have to be registered, so you save $15.00 to $35.00 a year; Two, it leads the domain address so that your name is up-front! 

What will my address be for a Non-Virtual WEB Site hosted by WWWS?

Your address with WWWS hosting can be any of these:
